A treat from the past…
by DarenDoc on Jul.01, 2009, under Star Trek
Here is an extremely rare behind the scenes piece on TMP from the magic of youtube.
I had heard about this footage… and am glad it’s been located. A nice view from a time long ago…

That. Was. AWESOME!
Kudos, Mr. D, for finding that pearl amongst the vast pigpen of youtube. I have never seen that before and I thought I had seen almost everything. Fantastic getting to see all those little bits of behind-the-scenes goodness, especially the V’Ger set.
I assume this didn’t make it on to the theatrical cut Blu-ray?

I can’t take credit for finding it myself… a friend posted finding it on facebook early this morning, and I jumped at putting it up here…

Then kudos to your friend – I’ll even thank pitchforks and pointed ears!

Even though she willingly submitted to Fred Phillip’s ministrations, I still feel sorry for poor Persis as the locks fall away and the tears start rolling.
Great find!

Very nicely done. Excellent. I’m glad Daren that you and everyone else are finally able to see this footage. I do have one question. Is that model of the Enterprise that we see being worked on the same one you and your crew un-boxed and looked at for detail references for the Director’s Edition of the film? I only ask cause the model that was shown on the ‘making of’ had an “A” on the registry
Thanks again for posting!

There was only one model of the Enterprise built for the movies…( well, one large size model…) they put an “A” on it for Trek IV.

Did you remove these from Youtube? Why? I didn’t get a chance to see them.
July 27th, 2009 on 6:24 am
No, Joe… I hadn’t put them up in the first place… the person who did apparently removed them… it’s a shame…

Bummer. I missed ‘em. My fault for waiting, but I wonder if Paramound got their panties in a knot over the video.
