ADG Panel: Star Trek – 45 years of Designing the Future
by DarenDoc on Oct.11, 2009, under Movie Design, Star Trek
On Sunday, September 27th, I was pleased to have been the moderator for a panel given by the Art Director’s Guild at the amazing Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. That evening, I talked with Trek Art directors and designers John Jefferies (set designer for TOS, and brother to Walter “Matt” Jefferies), Joseph Jennings (Art Director for the Star Trek – TMP and production designer on Trek II), Herman Zimmerman (TNG, DS9, Trek V-X), and Scott Chambliss (Trek 2009).
The Art Director’s Guild has put up video from the event… Go on over to artdirectors.org and take a look.

That must have been a sweet gig, sir. Well played.
And thanks for the link for the benefit of those of us in flyover country! I was particularly interested in hearing from Mr. Jennings, as he hasn’t been too widely interviewed about his very influential Trek work.

Awesome to see the videos of the panel. You were a great host. Couldn’t have been in better hands.
Also the fact that it completely sold-out if amazing !
Well done Daren !

Finally got around to being able to get to this, and I gotta say, THANKS, dude! For the op to be able to at least virtually be there, and for a great job as MC. What a great evening!
And man, there’s just tons of more great BTS vids on that site to watch as well! Good stuff to put on while working, eh.
Thanks again, Daren!
